The West Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency cracked down on 80 vehicles parked illegally along the sidewalk, Jalan Kyai Tapa, Grogol Petamburan Sub-district, Wednesday (6/25).

One of the locals, Raka (36) said, strict actions by officers were believed to have a deterrent effect on drivers who disobey rules by parking carelessly and disturbing other users of public facilities.
"Actions like this must be done frequently because illegal parking on the sidewalk greatly disturbs road users here," he expreased.

"This is already the umpteenth time we have disciplined them, but they still haven't learned the lesson," he explained.
However, strict supervision until patrols would continue to be intensified.
"We also put up no parking banners on the sidewalks to raise their awareness of the rules," he asserted.
He added, his team had coordinated with Trisakti University to inform their students not to park vehicles on the sidewalk.
"According to the campus authorities, most drivers do not have or carry a Student Identification Card (KTM) as a requirement for flat parking. Meanwhile, they are in a hurry because they have activities that cannot be missed, such as exams," he explained.
Grogol Petamburan Sub-district Acting Head, Joko Suparno admitted offcers would take strict action against illegal parking and street vendors occupying sidewalks and roads.
"Supervision will continue to be optimized to ensure that public facilities are maintained," he asserted.
